These lanterns have made multiple appearances, in different forms, over the years. Their first use was in spherical paper lanterns at Uncle Louie’s at Critical Northwest. Later, they returned to Uncle Louie’s in Morrocan Lanterns. And, at Deep C at Burning Man, as Jellyfish lanterns, marking the perimeter of the camp’s dance floor. They use small Moteinos which communicate over LoRa to coordinate their fade effects. This keeps them in sync without having to run cabling between them.
